Sapiens Barefoot on IB3: respectful footwear as a tool for health and natural movement

At Sapiens Barefoot we appeared on IB3 in the programme Uep! Quina Fira!, in a feature about our work as a shop specialising in barefoot footwear in Mallorca.

For us it is a joy to give visibility to an idea we stand by every day: respectful footwear is not a trend, but a tool for regaining space, mobility and function in the feet.

A different way of understanding footwear

During the feature we explain why the foot needs space to move naturally. Many conventional shoes are narrow, rigid and/or raise the heel, conditioning the way we walk and how the body relates to its surroundings.

Barefoot or respectful footwear seeks precisely the opposite: to respect the natural shape of the foot, let the toes splay, keep a more natural footstrike and encourage freer, more conscious movement.

More than shoes: guidance and criteria

At Sapiens we don't see footwear as just a product. Every person has a different foot, a different history and specific needs. Choosing a shoe to begin the transition to barefoot is not the same as choosing one for everyday walking, for children, for work, for sport or for a smarter, more urban look.

That is why we place so much importance on guidance. Our aim is not simply to find a size, but to help each person choose a model that suits their foot, their moment and their lifestyle.

Mallorca's first shop specialising in barefoot footwear

Appearing on IB3 also lets us share an important part of our journey: Sapiens is the first shop specialising in barefoot footwear in Mallorca. From Manacor, we work to bring respectful footwear closer to people who want to walk more comfortably, look after their feet better and understand movement from a more natural perspective.
